In addition, HSE has selected the Nio 3MP Color HB diagnostic displays, the Coronis 5MP, and the MDRC 2120, Barco's 20” clinical review display. Once completed, NIMIS will be one of the most technically advanced nationally integrated medical imaging systems in the world.”īarco's Coronis Fusion 6MP DL is part of the medical display portfolio being installed. “This national program will further enhance patient care, providing over 3,000 specialists and consultants with instant access to images and reports, with complete diagnostic confidence regardless of the patient's location. “As part of the technology partnership, led by McKesson, we are honored to be selected as the medical display supplier for NIMIS and be part of this large scale project,” comments Scott Wilson, Sales Manager UK & Ireland for Barco's Healthcare division.
Neil O'Hare continues: “This online quality assurance tool will free up IT resources and thus provide us with a lower total cost of ownership for the life-time of the displays.”
In addition, HSE will also install Barco's MediCal QAWeb software to centrally manage calibration and quality assurance of all displays included in the project. Thanks to the single seamless 30” diagnostic screen, our radiologists can read multi-modality images side by side or in any possible combination without interrupting the primary reading.” “The Coronis Fusion 6MP DL offers high-quality images with exceptional contrast ratios and viewing angles. “We knew Barco by reputation, but the main reason for selecting its medical display portfolio is the ability to configure the Coronis Fusion 6MP DL as the radiologists' standard diagnostic workstation,” says Neil O'Hare, HSE NIMIS Project Leader. In addition, over 600 clinical review displays will be deployed across the healthcare enterprise in key clinical settings such as cardiology, nuclear medicine, orthopedics and neurology. As a member of the group of vendors in this national project, Barco will deliver over 500 diagnostic and mammography display systems.
This project was awarded to McKesson, a leading healthcare technology and services company dedicated to improving access to patient information at the point of care. Four years ago, the organization initiated the NIMIS (National Integrated Medical Imaging System) project to install PACS/RIS systems in all acute hospitals within the HSE. The Health Service Executive (HSE) is Ireland's publicly funded healthcare service.
McKesson's picture-archiving software will enable electronic image-sharing between the hospitals for greater efficiency, safety and patient care. This large-scale installation covers more than 1,100 medical displays for 35 hospitals and will serve over 4.2 million people throughout the country.
For this project, Barco is the exclusive supplier of all diagnostic, mammography and clinical review displays in combination with MediCal QAWeb, Barco's online service for quality assurance. Healthcare specialist Barco announces it will partner with McKesson to supply medical display systems for NIMIS, Ireland's national PACS program.
